May 28 – The Iranian FA has moved the its June 9, 2026 World Cup qualifying fixture against North Korea from Mashad, the country’s second largest city, to the Azadi Stadium in Tehran. Iran have already qualified for the World Cup. The fixture was moved from the north eastern city due to reports that the Astan Quds Razavi shrine organisation and Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Iranian Supreme Leader’s representative in the province, would only allow the match if women were prohibited from entering the stadium. May 28 – FIFA held the official draws for two of its 2025 tournaments to be held in Doha on Sunday, with the Arab Cup and the newly expanded U-17 World Cup set to return to Qatar later this year. May 28 – Borussia Dortmund has announced a major sponsorship change, replacing long-time front-of-shirt partner Evonik with Vodafone Germany for the 2025/26 season. The new Vodafone deal runs for a minimum of five years, while Evonik will continue their relationship with the club as a Champion Partner after nearly two decades on the famous yellow jersey. May 28 – Leeds United, promoted back into the Premier League for next season, are returning to big match and big money fixtures with their final pre-season game to be played August 9 against Serie A giants AC Milan in Dublin at the 51,700 capacity Aviva Stadium.
